How data helps governments end homelessness

Some 13 cities in the US have now achieved functional zero homelessness, ending veteran and chronic homelessness according to a rigorous standard. Another 67 communities have achieved quality real-time data on homelessness, the fundamental basis on which the goal is achieved. This is important because cities navigate blind by using statistics that are often more than 50% inaccurate at anyone time, therefore prioritizing actions to manage rather than eliminate homelessness. Functional Zero is an inspiration by using highly meaningful data to tackle a complex human issue affecting all cities.

This points toward a future where by gathering and sharing comprehensive data related to policy goals, cities can make sustained progress over time.
