Moscow's blockchain solution showcase

In recent years, as cities compete to attract international investment and talent, smart cities programs have often been promoted as examples of progressive, innovative governance. Over the last decade, even as Russia has systematically isolated itself from the global community, Moscow has undertaken an aggressive campaign of internationalization. Technology has played a major role in this effort, and a new gallery of more than 3 dozen blockchain-based solutions developed by Moscow-based companies, part of a larger database of 50+ Russian solutions, seeks to promote the city as a center for this emerging technology.

Applications almost exclusively focus on industry verticals, but as with other emerging self-designed hubs of blockchain innovation (see Chengdu), this gallery point towards a future where city-regions actively promote local blockchain innovation ecosystems that produce both technologies and services for export as well as home-grown urban tech innovations.
